TRAINING IN THE PHILIPPINES

Concurrently Armtrac has also been conducting training for the 525th Engineer Battalion of the Philippines Army on their recently delivered Vehicle Mounted Mine Detectors (VMMD). See https://youtu.be/ktpwViy6YvE

TRAINING IN THE PHILIPPINES

These VMMDs are based on the Armtrac 100-350 Mk2 machines which have two 7.8m robotic arms mounted front and rear with a vegetation cutter at the back and a deep buried search mine detector on the front which are both controlled from the 2 man armoured cabin. The VMMD is designed to clear vegetation and search for hidden explosive devices and landmines laid by terrorists during former, and any future, conflict. Once detected, a paint dropper marks the position of the detection signal and an excavator bucket is fitted to the rear robotic arm to expose the device for EOD action.

TRAINING IN THE PHILIPPINES

Training for the 21 students commenced the 6 week course in March and it is due to conclude on 20 May 22. It covered the detailed parts and functions of every element of the VMMD together with practice and evaluation of operating the vehicle, vegetation cutter, excavation bucket and the detector/paint marker from within the protected armoured cabin.
