Armtrac 20T Demining Robot

Armtrac Ltd has recently trialled their new Demining Robot 20T with Military Forces in Colombia. Armtrac Ltd, based in Cambridgeshire UK, manufacture quality, safe and value for money mechanical equipment  and demining robots to counter the threat from Explosive Ordnance including landmines, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and Booby Traps. The Armtrac 20T is a remote controlled Small (Heavy) Unmanned Ground Vehicle designed to undertake high risk investigation and clearance operations. Remote operations are supported by a real time camera and monitor and there are a number of sub-surface impact and extraction tools available including a Flail, Manipulator Arm, Minecomb and front loading Bucket/Fork Lift. Depending on the threat, equipment such as a disruptor to counter surface IEDs or an X-Ray scanner to search suspect vehicles can also be fitted.

The 10 day trial in Colombia entailed testing the Robot’s ability to remove the tough cocaine vegetation using a Flail in order to reduce the threat from booby traps for follow-on Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel. The trial also included testing its ability to sustain high explosive events underneath the Robot’s Flail. The Colombian Authorities accepted that the trials had been a success and are now evaluating their options. www.armtrac.net .
