Prince Harry wants a Landmine free world by 2025

Prince Harry has recently been raising awareness about the dangers of Landmines through the charity that was set up for this late mother "HALO". During an event to mark International Mine Awareness Day on Tuesday 4th April, Prince Harry gave a speech at Kensington Palace in which he stated the following goal:

"I would like to highlight the progress which has been made by MAG (Mines Advisory Group), HALO, the UK Government and other organisations, and the opportunity to continue raising awareness of making the world landmine free by 2025"

Prince Harry was also joined by Priti Patel, the International Development Secretary so that he could announce that the Department for International Development was going to be trebling its support for landmine clearance to £100 million over the next three years.

Prince Harry also mentioned his mother's work, saying "She did not understand why more people were not willing to address the cause of so much suffering. She refused to accept that these destructive weapons should be left where they were, just because they were perceived as too expensive and difficult to remove."
