What is a Route Proving C-IED Roller System?
This system is a protection device which has been specifically designed to detonate victim operated devices including landmines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in front of protected vehicles; this in turn then provides a level of confidence for logistic and other routes to Forward Operating Bases (FOBs).
Although the idea to create a mine clearing system came about during World War II when mine rollers were used by the US army as a way of protecting themselves against landmine accidents, more recently roller systems have been used very effectively in Afghanistan by the US and British Army.
What is this used for?
This system has been designed to protect MRAP and other vehicles from victim operated devices and provides reassurance to those driving that they will be protected from landmines and IED’s.
